Met Office communications. Met Office worker typing out a weather report to produce a tape message for wireless broadcast to teleprinters. The tape produced (lower centre) will be fed into a device that will convert it into a wireless signal to be sent to out-station forecasting offices. This is a broadcast for Channel 1. Other tape messages and station names are at left. The Met Office is the UK's national weather monitoring and forecasting service. A variety of communication methods have been used during its history. This photograph dates from after the Second World War.
