For several years he wasAssistant Pension Agent for the State underColonel Rodman, holding the office until the dis-trict was merged with that of most of the time since 1868 he has beenjudge of the New Britain City Court, havingbeen appointed when the court was established,and his tenure of office being undisturbed exceptduring the rare intervals when the Democrats: have controlled the Legislature. For the past| five years by successive re-elections he has beenjudge of probate for the Berlin District. At thelast Republican National Convention at Chicagohe represented the First District. 17. Hon. LUZERNE I. Ml XsoX Luzerne I. Munson was born in Wallingford(Northford Society), in March, 1837. He re-ceived a common school education, and alsoattended for two years the Durham 1854, at the age of 17, he came to Waterburyand engaged as a boy in the service of theApothecaries7 Hall Company, where he remaineduntil 1861, when he went as book-keeper amishipping clerk with the City ManufacturingCompany, since merged with the Benedict &Burnham Manufacturing Company, occupyingthe position for a year and a half. In L862 hemoved to Meriden to take the offices of Secretaryand Treasurer of Julius Pratt & Co., ami laterwas Secretary and Treasurer of Pratt, Read& Co., when the three firms, of which that firmwas constituted, were consolidated.
