PACIFIC OCEAN (May 9, 2017) Sailors, Marines and Tigers watch a demonstration of the Close-In Weapons System (CIWS) and the MK38 25mm machine gun aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). Tiger Cruise allowed more than 160 friends and family members to embark Makin Island to experience Navy and Marine Corps life at sea during the ship’s return trip to San Diego following a seven-month deployment to the 3rd, 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operation.
