The guanaco (Lama guanicoe) habitat male alone Quebrada del Castillo Parque National Pan de Azucar Atacama Region III Chile South America during the "desertio florido" September 2010. The guanaco are of a cinnamon colour, with lighter lower body and darker head. Indians used their meat, wool and skin for clothing. It is native to the arid, mountainous regions of South America: altiplano of Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Chile and Argentina. Their numbers rapidly declined in Parque National Pan de Azucar Atacama. In last count only about 40 individuals were found. Feral dogs has been observed rounding up and killing guanaco here. Chilean towns are overrun by feral dogs and people also release unwanted animals in a park. Up to date no action has been taken by administration to protect remaining population. #text=All
