The ends of a mash hammer are beveleddown from the eye on the top and sides, the bottomside is left perfectly flat. The face at each end isalso on a bevel, which should be dressed a little full inthe center and the corners left very rounding. Hardenboth ends as mentioned in making hammers in anotherchapter of this book, but after proper hardening itis not necessary to draw any temper as there are nosharp corners to break off.
