Frankfurt has a large Christmas market in the Altstadt square, where the traditional fare of Christmas cookies and decorations are on offer with a warming Gluhwein drink or a taste of rum from the Feuerzangenbowle to keep out the cold. Hot rum is poured over a large block of crystal sugar and all the lovely flavours are released.
