Then again, Spirit communications are for the most part addressed toindividuals, and the innate selfishness of humanity renders personal matterwholly uninteresting except to the parties immediately concerned. As the intention of this work is to prepare a record for the use of futuregenerations, we feel compelled to avoid the tedium of useless repetition onthe one hand, and on the other to send down to posterity a completeset of such representative cases as will display the nature of the spiritualphenomena manifested in the nineteenth century. • It is with this view thatwe select a few of Mr. D.
