Sgurr Coire Choinnichean Mountain overlooking Inverie on the Knoydart Peninsula Inverness-shire. SCO 5373

The last wilderness area in Great Britain, the Knoydart peninsula is only accessible by boat from Mallaig or by a 20 mile hike on foot. A wonderful area for walking and camping, this is truly a miles-from-anywhere, get-away-from-it-all place. Inverie (Scottish Gaelic: Inbhir Aoidh) is the only village in Knoydart, Lochaber, Highland, Scotland. It is linked by ferry to Mallaig, but there is no road access to the area from the rest of Scotland. The village is home to the remotest public house in mainland Great Britain, The Old Forge.
