Main Hall of Sanjusangen-do Buddhist temple (aka Rengeo-in). Sanjusangen-do was completed in 12th century and rebuilt in 13th century after a fire. The main deity of the temple is Sahasrabhuja-arya-avalokitesvara (Thousand Armed Kannon), and the Main Hall contains 1001 life-size statues of the Thousand Armed Kannon, carved in Japanese Cypress in 12th and 13th centuries. At present time is run by the Myoho-in temple (part of the Tendai school of Buddhism). Higashiyama District. Kyoto. Kansai Region (aka Kinki region). Japan
