The original is preserved in the British few specimens of this kind have been found with names of sultansand towns, showing that they were principally manufactured in Mesopo-tamia, and that they are often as early as the Xlllth century. There are necessarily great difficulties in translating a work like M. La-bartes. Notwithstanding these obstacles, the transla-tion on the whole appears satisfactory.
