Bridges over the River Tyne linking Newcastle on the right bank to Gateshead on the left bank. From front to back - the Tyne Bridge was built between 1925 - 1928 and is a road bridge. The Swing Bridge opened in 1876 and is also a road bridge. The High Level Bridge was opened in 1849 - it has two decks - one for trains above and one for road traffic. The Queen Elizabeth 2 Metro Bridge was opened in 1981 for light rail Metro traffic.
