(1 eel, 2 ale, 3 al, 4 all, 5 ole, 6 ool, 7 w/Z.) 1. The First vowel element is heard on ce, in reel or c eve,and is made by forcibly expelling air through the glottis, withthe lips and teeth a little separated, the body of the tonguepressed laterally against the small grinders on both sides, andthe air passing out over its surface and point. The positionof the lips and teeth, required for the utterance of this ele-ment, is illustrated in the following cut. uselive 2. The Second element is heard on * a, in i ale or c age,and is made in the glottis, by forcibly expelling air through it,with the body of the tongue pressed laterally against thegrinders on both sides, and the lips and teeth somewhat moreseparated than for the first element.
