The roof truss of Bremen's Old Town Hall has a special structural feature. One of two independent structures supports the copper roof and the other the ceiling of the Upper Hall. In this way, the tensile forces that would normally load the roof truss are absorbed by the weight of the ceiling and distributed to the outer walls. This engineering solution ensures exceptional stability and longevity of the historic roof truss. Bremen, Germany
