The outer leaves are dark green and when first formedthe head is slightly pointed, but when further matured is globular in is one of the five most popular varieties of lettuce, both in Europe andAmerica, ranking close to Big Boston in this respect. The inner leaves arecreamy white and are wonderfully crisp and tender. This is one of the verybest lettuce to grow for the home garden, but is most too crisp to be a goodshipper.
