A black and white burgonet,Southern Germany,circa 1560/70 Skull of the Hungarian type forged in one piece,terminating in a hollow-forged,acorn-shaped finial,and set with four decorative,ridged strips. Surrounding lining rivets. A plume holder riveted at the nape of the neck. Riveted neck guard and movable brim with tuned-under and corded rims. Hinged cheek flaps with embossed decorative strips and nine-hole perforations for hearing. The left cheek piece is restored at the lower edge.
