Spiaggia dei Conigli, spectacular beach of Lampedusa Island, Pelagie islands, southern Sicily, Italy

This spectacular beach is very popular especially during the tourist season. Most years turtles (caretta caretta) lay their eggs on this beach and these sections are fenced off to protect the eggs from disturbance. Lampedusa belongs to the Pelagie islands, that lie south of Sicily, closer to the African coast than to Sicily itself. The other 2 Pelagie islands are Linosa and Lampione.
