Soyuz spacecraft in Earth orbit. Artwork of a Soyuz TMA-M spacecraft passing over the northern coast of the Black Sea at an orbital altitude of 320 kilometres. The Crimean Peninsula is at centre, with the Sea of Azov on the horizon. The Russian Soyuz TMA-M (crew of three) is a modified version of the Soyuz TMA spacecraft. It has been in use since 2010, carrying astronauts into Earth orbit. Since the last Space Shuttle flight in 2011, the Soyuz spacecraft has been the only one capable of ferrying crew to and from the International Space Station (ISS). A Soyuz replacement rocket and capsule is planned to be in operation by 2020.
