On July 3 of that yearthe name was changed to Henry B. Endicott Steam Fire Engine com-pany No. 1, in compliment to Henry B. Endicott, of Boston, presidentof the Lestershire Manufacturing company, and who has been a gener-ous benefactor of the village and its people in many ways. The com-pany now comprises 52 men, under foreman Andrew Pease. It is auniformed body and enjoys the reputation of being one of the bestdrilled fire organizations in the state. THE TOWN OF UNION. f\r-,5 gine company, was organized in the spring of 1893, and was equippedwith a jumper of sufficient capacity to carry 400 feet of hose, which infact was all the department then owned and that the gift of Mr. company now comprises 58 men, under foreman Arthur is a uniformed body, well drilled and has the second fastest runningteam of volunteer firemen in the state. The present apparatus is a substantial hose wagon. G. Harry Lester Hook and Ladder Company No. i was organized inDecember, 1894, the apparatus consisting of a good Gleason & Baileytruck, with extension ladders and other modern equipments. Thecompany now comprises 44 men under foreman James L. Derby. C. Fred Johnson Hose Co. No. 2 was organized in June, 1897, with 48men under foreman Charles Bliven, and was equipped with a new m
