A striking proof of the need for revision of the bye-laws in thisrespect is to be found in the fact that Hampstead Garden SuburbTrust, who desired to imitate the above-named examples and develop theirestate of some 240 acres on these lines, actually found it necessary togo to Parliament and get a special Act passed enabling them to varythe provisions of the bye-laws of the Hendon Urban District Council as tothe construction of new streets.
