D. ;5 This ?would look as though the public was willing to pay the prices asked. When we find that more plants could have been sold at the prices asked, what are we going to do? This is certainly a case of supply and demand regulating prices. There is no doubt that a good market existed this year for more good blooming plants than were to be had. Would it not then be good business for some of the smaller growers to go into plants on a larger scale next year? Some to whom I have spoken on the sub- ject say: "What would we do when Christmas is over?" Well, it seems to me that there is always a demand for some plants, and, then, Easter is not far off, at which time there will be just a repetition of Christmas, and I am con- vinced that the small grower who will devote his energies to plants entirely will reap better returns than he would from cut stock. In connection with this suggestion let me call attention to bedding plants. In the last few years there has been a shortage of these. Let us look this plant situation squarely in the face.
