Remarks.—This species is apparently most closely related to Cen- tropyge bispinosiis (Giinther), 0. multispinis Playfair, and G. fisheri Snyder, but it differs from these as well as from all other species of butterflyfishes in coloration and in the low number of dorsal and anal fin rays.
