This species agrees very nearly with Dr Horsfields characters of thegenus, except in the proportion of the wings. In the typical species thefifth, sixth, and seventh quills are longest, and nearly equal; in this thefourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh, are the longest, and equal. The same pro-portions are found in another species figured by M. Temminck, and fromthe same county, the P. turdinus, and it is probable that the New Hol-land individuals will hereafter form a separate group.
