Sir Hercules Robinson, British colonial administrator (1886). Robinson (1824-1897) served as Governor of New South Wales from 1872-1879 having previously been Governor of St Kitts, Hong Kong and Ceylon. In 1880 he was appointed High Commissioner for Southern Africa.
