With his Squad Leader seriously wounded Sergeant Russell Collier, Battery Medic, advanced under enemy fire in order to render aid. His unselfish actions under direct enemy fire led to his own mortal wounds. By his outstanding bravery and courage, Sergeant Collier served to inspire all who observed him and upheld the highest traditions of the Armed Forces of the United States of America."
