A Celtic sword with scrollwork decoration,Central Europe,middle Latène period,3rd - 2nd century Forged iron. Blade and scabbard caked together due to corrosion. Scabbard made of sheet iron with flanged sides and two chiselled ribs. Finely engraved scrollwork at the locket. Riveted suspension loop at the reverse side. Slightly tapered tang with typically curved guard and oval riveted top knob. Cleaned and restored unearthed find with small replacements.
