Members of the First Battalion, 9th Marines Regiment were honored by Vietnamese Army Officers with gifts before their departure to Okinawa on July 14, 1969. Assistant Secretary of the Navy John Warner, Secretary of Defense Melvin Laird, and Dr. Norman Vincent Peale were also present at the ceremony.
