Brussels 2016 January 1st. While Brussels has raised the terrorist threat level to orange or even red for certain parts of the city, the European Commission buildings show just yellow or elevated level warning signs. Charlemagne Building / Karel de Grote Building is next to the Berlaymont Building on the Rue de la Loi / Wetstraat in Brussels. It houses the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs, the Directorate-General for Trade and, since 2015, the Internal Audit Service of the Commission.
