Flue gas desulphurisation plant. Manometres (pressure gauges) on bottles of ammonia at the flue gas desulphurisation plant of a fossil fuel power station. Flue gas desulphurisation is used to remove sulphur dioxide from the exhaust gases of fossil fuel power plants. The process involves the use of ammonia which is vaporised before being released into the flue gases. Photographed at the EDF power plant in Le Havre, France.
