Bronze sculptures of Irish Immigrants from the Great Famine of 1847, Ireland Park, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Ireland Park is located on the shores of Lake Ontario and opened in 2007. It commemorates the tens of thousands who fled Ireland during the Great Famine of 1847. 38,000 immigrants arrived and were welcomed, despite the city only having 20,000 inhabitants. The park was designed by Jonathan Kearns, an Irish immigrant. The five bronze sculptures are by Irish sculptor Rowan Gillespie.
