Workers for the New York Dept. of Parks and Recreation throw discarded Christmas trees into an industrial wood chipper during the 14th annual MulchFest on Friday, January 8, 2010. Over the weekend thousands of Christmas trees are to be turned into mulch after being brought in by New Yorkers to collection and chipping sites in the five boroughs.
