Cornetite mineral on chrysocolla. Cornetite (dark blue-black) is a rare copper phosphate hydroxide with the formula (OH)3, in the orthorhombic crystal system. It is mostly found in the weathered oxidation zones of hydrothermal copper deposits (chrysocolla, light green). This sample, 7 centimetres long, is from Shaba (Katanga), Democratic Republic of the Congo. Photographed at the Royal Museum for Central Africa, Tervuren, Belgium.
