Against a background of video advertising for the New Uffizi art gallery and museum in Florence, Tuscany, Italy, a marble tear runs from the corner of the right eye of the Trojan warrior Polites, younger son of King Priam of Troy, as he dies at the feet of his assailant Pyrrhus, son of Achilles. This is a detail of the superb ‘Rape of Polyxena’ sculptural group by the Italian sculptor Pio Fedi (1816-1892), which was unveiled in 1866 and is today on public display in the Loggia dei Lanzi in Piazza della Signoria.
