Restored miner's cottage on the site of Stewart Town built on the plateau of the Menzies Terrace above the old gold workings.

Restored miner's cottage on the site of Stewart Town built on the plateau of the Menzies Terrace above the old gold workings. The site is next to the dam built by John Menzies and David Stewart. They then sold the water to the miners for them to use in sluicing the surrounding hillsides to obtain the gold in the gravels of the area. Miners paid £4 per week for a "head of water" and needed to extract over an ounce of pure gold to turn a profit. The restored cottage stands amongst the original fruit trees planted by the miners and their families.
