NAVAL STATION GREAT LAKES, Ill., (June 17, 2010) – Chief Machinist’s Mate (SW) Scott Campbell (left), USS Chief Fire Fighting Trainer leading chief explains how Navy recruits are trained to fight shipboard fires to Air Force Col. William Mott, the commander of the 37th Training Wing. Mott is in charge of the largest training wing in the Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He is responsible for four primary training missions, which graduate more than 86,000 students annually, in addition to providing base operations and support to 45,000 people. During his two-day visit Mott, along with several other Air Force training commanders, including the commanding officer of the Air Force’s only boot camp, Col. Shane Courville, toured several facilities on RTC and Training Support Center (TSC) on Naval Station Great Lakes. They also met with their counterparts at the Navy’s only boot camp and TSC, exchanging ideas and discussing the similar and different ways of turning civilians into Airmen and Sailors.
