Police repeatedly fired tear gas after tens of thousands of pro-democracy demonstrators brought parts of central Hong Kong to a standstill on September 28, 2014 in protest at Beijing's refusal to grant the city unfettered democracy. Ongoing protests have blocked major roads in Admiralty, Causeway Bay and MongKok, with continued scuffles and arguments between pro China people and the pro democracy camp.
