Mr. Millerdied in 1884, when the business was reorganized underthe corporate name of the Henry F. Miller & Sons PianoCompany, whose officers are as follows: president,Henry F. Miller; treasurer, James C. Miller; clerk,William T. Miller ; superintendent, Joseph H. Gibson ;assistant , Edwin C. Miller; directors,H. F. Miller, J. H. Gibson, W. H. Miller, J. C. Miller. BOSTON. I. EUGENE TOMPKINS, manager and sole owner ofthe Boston Theatre, and manager and half ownerof the Academy of Music in New York, comes to hisposition by right of natural ability and by virtue ofinheritance. He was born in Boston, Sept. 28, 1850,and was educated at the Chauncy Hall School. Gradu-ating with high honors, he engaged for a short time inmercantile ])ursuits, which he soon reliniiuished to enterupon a managerial career under his father, who hadbeen for many yearsat the head of theBoston Theatre. In1877 he made hisfirst important ven-ture. While on avisit to Europe hesaw The Exiles,and secured theAmerican rights tothe play from Sar-dou. It was broughtout at the BostonTheatre under hisdirection, was a pro-nounced success,and gave him at oncerepute as a youngman of excellentjudgment. In 1878Mr. Tompkins beganhis active connectionwith the BostonTheat
