Cobbled streets and quaint oldworld charm The city district of Haga in Gothenburg Sweden renowned for its picturesque wooden houses 19th century atmosphere and cafés is a charming district to stroll through Originally a working class suburb with a rather seamy reputation it was gradually transformed into a popular visiting place Major renovations were made in the 1980s Houses were torn down and replaced by post modernistic replicas though many of the old features were left intact These days Haga is far from a workers quarter but retains a bohemian atmosphere with its old architecture County Governor houses antique shops as well as pleasant cafés and restaurants line the cobbled streets
