As iu somany other places in Southern California, its streets arelined with pepper trees, palms grow in great profusion,and the eucalyptus towers aloft in imposing feverish, unwholesome days of the boom are hap-pily long since over, the people have given up sellingtown lots on the desert, and instead are now convert-ing the wastes into orange groves. Nearly everyonehere owns a wheel, and the roads about town havebicycle paths worn along their sides, making wheelingvery comfortable. There is also a regularly constructedbicycle path beside the electric car line, shaded withpepper trees. I
