A pelagic species found upstream in rivers and, in the ocean, to 731 m (Leim and Scott 1966; Morrow 1980) in depth. Survey data Found from northeast of Cape Lisburne in the Chukchi Sea south in the eastern Bering Sea to Cape Navarin, the Pribilof Islands, and Bristol Bay. Depth range 25 to 175 m, with of occurrences on the inner shelf between 0 and 50 m, and from depths < 150 m. Survey data extend the southernmost limit of the known range in the eastern Bering Sea to the Pribilof Islands and Bristol Bay.
