The Kindlifresserbrunnen fountain sculpture in Bern, Switzerland depicts a sitting ogre devouring a naked child and a bag with more children at his side. It was created in 1545 by Hans Gieng and seems intended to encourage children to behave. A literal translation of the name Kindlifresserbrunnen is the Fountain of the Eater of Little Children.
