This variety glows to a large size, holding from 4 to 8 gallons each, having hard, thick shells, very strong, but light and durable, lasting for many years. They are used for a variety of pur- poses, such as buck-ets, baskets, nest boxes, etc. Pkt. 5 cts.; oz. 30 cts. White Eg^g' - formed. Also called Japanese Nest-egg Gourd. Exactly resemble, in color, shape and size, the eggs of hens, and are as well as ornamental as a climber. ENDIVE. Dreer's Giant Fringed Endiv Eiidivien, Ger. Chicoree, Fr Endivia 6 Esearola, Sp. One ounce of seed to 150 feet of row. Endive is one of the best and most wholesome salads for fall and winter use. Sow in shallow drills in April for early use, or for late use in June or July, When 2 or 3 inches high, transplant into good ground or thin out to 1 foot apart. When nearly full grown, and before they are fit for the table, they must be blanched. This is done by the leaves to- gether and tying with yarn or bass, to exclude the light and air from the inner leaves, which must be done when quite dry, or they will rot. Another method is to cover the plants with boards or slates. In three or four weeks they will be suffici- ently blanched. Pkt. 5 c; oz. 20 c ; -} lb. 50 c; lb. $, except where Green Curled Winter.
