Edward Fitzgerald 1809-1883 was a 19th century writer and poet whose works include the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, generally regarded as the definitive translation - among many - of poems by the eponymous 11th/12th century Persian poet, mathematician and astronomer. He was born in Bredfield Suffolk and is buried in nearby Boulge churchyard.
