Compared tonon-fireproof buildings, concrete will vary from equal coston large propositions to possibly 30 per cent, greater coston medium sized propositions, and sometimes 40 per cent, and 50 per cent, on the smaller buildings when the com-parison is made with the cheapest form of brick and frameconstruction. These percentages will, of course, vary fordifferent sections of the country, but are in a measure fairstatements for general usage. These costs are exclusive. Concrete Motor Car Factory. It is very interesting, however, to examine the pointsbrought forward by the cement association mentioned above. From an industrial point of view, the advantages of areinforced concrete building are its fireproofness, water-proofness, verminproofness, sanitary qualities, maximumlight available, load-carrying capacity, vibration, resistance, permanence, adapability, speed of construction, low heatingcharge, low initial cost and its fire protection value. Compared to any other fireproof type of building, rein-forced concrete for industrial buildings is the lowest ininuial cost. It is generally found that on a four or morestorey factory or warehouse, with live loads of 150 poundsor mre, reinforced concrete buildings cost from 10 per cent. of building equipment such as plumbing, heating, lighting, elevatcrs and sprinklers, as these items run about the sameon any type of building. What these costs really mean isthat a prospective builder can ob
