Eroded limestone rock. Coarse, intermittently hard and soft limestone beds dipping towards the valley are located at the old mill 'Mulin da Canaa'. They were eroded by the Breggia river as it formed the gorges. The Geoparc of the Breggia gorges in southern Ticino, Switzerland, is an open geology book, where some 200 million years of Earth's history unfold during a self-guided tour along 22 information booths along various river rock outcrops of the Mesozoic of kilometre length. The Breggia gorges are internationally renowned, and are studied in stratigraphy, palaeogeography and palaeontology.
