The Leaning Tower of Pisa (Torre pendente di Pisa) is the freestanding bell tower (campanile), of the cathedral located on Piazza del Duomo in the Italian city of Pisa. In 1987, the tower was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the neighbouring cathedral, baptistery and cemetery. The tower is currently (2010) undergoing gradual surface restoration, in order to repair visual damage, mostly corrosion and blackening.
