It is strong enough for a modern 30,000-kw. , of course, would not be proportionately heavierthan the present 7500-kw., 25-cycle, machine,which weighs about 715,000 lb., as it would be of higherspeed and modern design. The turbine is now run-ning on its elevated support with very little vibration,which is least at heaviest load. A walkway around the base of the machine is bracketsupported and floored with checkered steel plate. It con-nects by a bridge with the switchboard gallery and willultimately join on the same level the walkway around.
