Doornenkroning, Albrecht Altdorfer, c. 1506 - 1538 print Christ sitting on the ground, gets a crown on the head pushed by two men with a large stick. A third man sits on the floor for him and hands him a staff. Twenty -fourth print from a series of forty. Germany paper the crowning with thorns: soldiers with sticks place a thorny crown on Christ's head and give him a reed (Matthew 27:27-31; Mark 15:16-20; John 19:2-3)
