In some cases there is an extensive involve-ment of the extremities. Recovery from the paralysisusually occurs. Prognosis.âAlways guarded. The mortality of diph-theria is from 10 to 50 per cent. In true faucial diphtheriathe prognosis is usually good. In laryngeal and nasalit is grave. Three-fourths of the cases which end fatallydie of exhaustion. Treatment. â
