Levers and ballots on a mechanical voting machine in a polling station in the New York neighborhood of Chelsea
Levers and ballots on a mechanical voting machine in a polling station in the New York neighborhood of Chelsea on Primary Day, Tuesday, October 1, 2013 show that the only race is the runoff for Public Advocate between Daniel Squadron and Leticia James. The cost of the runoff is estimated to be $13 million. No candidate in the citywide race achieved 40 percent of the vote so the top two contenders are mandated to have a runoff election.
