Kopvignet with pals in 'art and society'.dijsselhof - a very skilled wood cutter - is seen as the father of the Dutch Art Nouveau. This movement is characterized by symmetry, interlocking (repeating) forms and organic motifs with a limited space suggestion. The new art can therefore be seen as the fertile soil where Escher could shoot root. For both artists, fish were a very popular subject. Their form and flexibility offer the possibility to come to a decorative pattern.
